ConTemporary Nursing Benefits

Platinum and Gold Status

   There are two different levels of full-time employment with ConTemporary - Platinum and Gold Status. Both Platinum and Gold status nurses are eligible for all company benefits.
  • Platinum Status: Full-time nurses who work 36 or more hours a week and are expected to continue to maintain this average have reached Platinum Status.
  • Gold Status: Full-time nurses who work 30 or more hours a week and are expected to continue to maintain this average have reached Gold Status.


    Silver and Bronze Status

       There are also two different levels of part-time employment with ConTemporary - Silver and Bronze Status.
  • Silver Status: Part-time employees who work 20-30 hours a week and are expected to continue to maintain this average have reached Silver Status.
  • Bronze Status: Part-time employees who work an average of less than 20 hours a week or who work PRN have reached Bronze Status.

    The following is a brief explanation of all our company benefits.     Health Insurance

  • Eligibility: Platinum and Gold Status
    Blue Cross Blue Shield NCA HMO or PPO Health Insurance
       ConTemporary Nursing has teamed up with Blue Cross to offer a comprehensive health, vision and prescription plan. This plan has two options: HMO or PPO. You can choose the HMO plan, which gives you the ability to choose the local network of physicians and have no additional out of pocket expenses other than a co-pay. Understanding that your physician(s) may not be in our local network the PPO option affords you the ability to choose a physician in the network anywhere in the country and receive the highest level of coverage, or if you prefer, select a physician outside of the network. This is a company-subsidized benefit.

  • Prescription card (no deductible, $10 generic, $20 formulary brand names, $35 non-formulary brand names)

          70% coinsurance out-of-network

    Monthly deduction(4)
    All Full-time nurses may opt out of the Group Health Insurance; however only Platinum level nurses who opt out will be offered reimbursement on a monthly basis of $50/month(3). Checks will be issued on the 15th of the following month.


    Dental, Vision and Prescription Plan

  • Eligibility: Platinum, Gold, Silver Status
    Care Entree
       ConTemporary Nursing has teamed up with Care Entree a network with over 20,000 participating dentists to offer a Fee for service dental plan. This plancovers the whole family and has no pre- existing condition limitations, no annual maximums, and no waiting periods. The plan covers everything from routine cleanings to orthodontia. Please see fee schedule for complete details. In addition this policy includes Vision and Prescription benefits. The Vision benefit allows you to save up to 70% on prescription eyeglasses, mail order contact lenses and eye exams. The Prescription benefit allows you to save up to 40% on your prescriptions. The cost of this plan is $19.95 monthly and is taken out as a payroll deduction.


    Voluntary Short Term Disability Insurance

  • Eligibility: Platinum, Gold and Silver Status
    We are aware of the threat of a short-term catastrophe therefore ConTemporary offers you the ability to participate in a company sponsored Voluntary Group Short Term Disability Insurance (STD) policy. Our policy covers both partial and total disabilities due to an accident or illness. You choose the weekly benefit that's right for you- from $100 to $750- as long as the amount does not exceed 70% of your basic weekly income. This benefit will begin on the 15th day of disability and will continue for up to 26 weeks as long as you remain either partially or totally disabled. The cost of this plan will be taken out as a payroll deduction on a monthly basis.


    Malpractice Insurance

  • Eligibility: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Status
    Malpractice insurance is not only important but a necessity for all practicing nurses. Our professional liability insurance covers all nurses anytime they are scheduled through ConTemporary. This is a company paid benefit.

    On-line Continuing Education

  • Eligibility: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Status
    ConTemporary recognizes the need for continuing education and therefore offers on-line continuing education through the Nursing Spectrum CE Direct. These continuing education modules are accredited by the American Credentialing Centers Commission on Accreditation (ANCC) and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). This is a company paid benefit.


    401(K) Retirement Plan with John Hancock Financial Services

  • Eligibility: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Status
    ConTemporary Nursing offers a pre-tax retirement plan in which employees can save for the future. Employees can withhold up to 20% their gross annual salary up to a maximum of $10,500 annually. Open enrollment occurs quarterly on the first of January, April, July, and October. This plan, through John Hancock Financial Services, offers 36 different employee directed investment options from 9 different mutual fund companies. On-line account access allows you to check balance, reallocate future withholdings, and view investment returns. In addition through John Hancock Financial Services's Retirement Planning software you can calculate "What-if" savings scenarios and much more.


    529 College Savings Plan with Alliance

  • Eligibility: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Status
    ConTemporary Nursing offers an additional, payroll deduct, benefit- an education savings account known as the 529 College Savings Plan. This plan allows you to contribute up to $10,000 dollars annually, which grows tax-free while your money stays in the plan. When the money is withdrawn to pay for the beneficiary's college expenses the earnings portion will be entirely tax-exempt starting in 2002.


    Daily Pay

  • Eligibility: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Status
    ConTemporary offers daily pay Monday-Friday during business hours. Just call in or fax in your time and your check will be ready when you arrive. Please allow us one hour for processing.

    Direct Deposit

  • Eligibility: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Status
    ConTemporary acknowledges that it may not be convenient to pick up your check and then wait in line at your bank therefore we offer weekly Direct Deposit. Just mail or drop off your time slips by Tuesday to be paid with Direct Deposit on Friday. Please note the time slips, if mailed, must be in one of our offices by Tuesday to process your pay for Friday.

    (3) This option can be exercised in the form of a bonus check, which is subject to payroll taxes or in the form of a reimbursement check for work related expenses. If the Platinum level employee submits original receipts or cancelled checks for qualifying expenses, your opt-out reimbursement will be non-taxable. If you are enrolled in one of ConTemporary's payroll deduct benefits that qualifies there is no need to provide receipts. If you would like to receive the non-taxable opt-out reimbursement and are not currently enrolled in a payroll deduction option, the following are considered work related. Health, Dental and Disability Insurance as well as uniforms, medical and dental expenses not covered by insurance and professional dues, licensing, and continuing education related to your employment with ConTemporary Nursing.
